Time to celebrate
There are lots of reasons to celebrate around the offices at 285 Woolwich this year, as MacMillan reaches a number of exciting milestones.
We started 2010 having successfully weathered the tough ’09 economy and seeing the company through its 30th year. Founded by Peter and Fiona Barrow in 1979, Barrow Communications was a two-person traditional public relations firm with strong leadership and big dreams. The Barrows steadfastly navigated two tough recessions and the usual growing pains to build the business into one of the region’s best-known marketing agencies.
Doug MacMillan celebrates his 20th year in 2010. Doug started in 1990 as a Junior Account Supervisor, and was appointed Vice President in 1995. Cathy MacMillan had also joined the fold, assuming the complicated Production Manager role. Stenna Berry, MMG’s Sr. Art Director, started the same day Cathy did. She was the newly-minted top graduate from Conestoga College’s excellent design school. In January, they celebrated 16 years with the company.
One of our earliest successes? Hiring Natasha Paterson to be our new production coordinator. Today as Operations Manager, Tash brings essential quality processes to our rules-averse creative crowd. In September, she’ll celebrate her 10th year, and we wouldn’t be here without her brilliance.
Today marks the 10th anniversary of MacMillan ownership! Since July 1st, 2000, Doug and Cathy successfully rebranded the business, moved to a larger location (both in 2002), doubled the company’s size and expanded the client base. We’ve significantly broadened the scope of the marketing services to embrace all that today’s technology has to offer - while never losing sight of the marketing, communications and values-based fundamentals that have been the hallmarks of our success for 30 years.

In other news... We’re excited to announce a recent expansion to the MMG family! Our Production Coordinator Melissa welcomed handsome baby boy Mason to the Machmueller household. Congratulations Melissa, Dan and little sister Amaris!
