Celebrate your successes

Posted on March 12, 2010.

Let’s face it – most of us don’t celebrate our successes as well as we should. There’s that uneasy feeling that we’re bragging. But when you think about it – is that really a bad thing? Promoting the things you do well is a fundamental aspect of marketing. Your successes differentiate you from your competitors and are the chapters that make up your corporate story.

You should remember to celebrate the small successes (a well-received newsletter) along with the big (surviving the weeks before CMX). One of the ways we’re celebrating our successes and those of our clients is through the portfolio on our new website and this e-newsletter.

Consider these ways you can share your successes and make sure they make up a part of your overall communications strategy:

1. Blogs are a great way to talk up the work you’re proud of and share your expertise at the same time.

2. Create a brag book – a virtual photo album like ours, and maybe even an old-fashioned paper version.

3. Videotape a successful installation or conversation with staff and clients about a unique accomplishment, set up a YouTube channel, and link to it from your website or blog.

4. Send a news release about a big win or success story, and follow up with a reporter to chat it through.

5. Position your stories as proud accomplishments of your staff worth celebrating - write them up in an e-newsletter or good old fashioned letter in the mail to your clients

Go ahead. Shout it from the rafters. You deserve it.
