Print Production and Me
So, here it is my first Blog ever! This is a new venture for me; sharing my thoughts in unfamiliar territory– the social networking world. This process has been one leap forward in embracing the digital world (I have never tweeted, I am not on Facebook, I do not own a Hi-def T.V. – yet).
As a print production coordinator I see similarities between my own personal thoughts on change and social media to the current challenges facing the printing industry. We all need to adapt, embrace new models of communicating and doing business to stay fresh, current and successful as times change.
My daughter and husband teach me about change every day. My daughter had pink eye recently and I approached the task of applying eye drops the “old school” way - pin her down and apply meds without letting her squirm away. Clearly it wasn’t working. My husband took the more civilized route in explaining what was going on and showing her how it worked (by pretending to put it in his eyes) and miraculously, she wanted him to apply the eye drops without a fight (A few eye-rolls on my part on the time it took to do this). But anyway, to the point, imagine how much easier things can be when you are open to a different point of view. Challenge your traditional ways of thinking and acting to see where it takes you.
I’m getting plugged-in, connected, and sharing the spirit of transition into the blogging world. The printing industry is following suit - they are expanding the definition of who they are by not just simply putting ink on paper anymore. How are you embracing change in your life?
