Welcome to my blog
When we were told we had to write a blog for the new MacMillan Marketing Group website my first thought was, what am I going to write? And how can I possibly think of something to say that other people might be interested in?
So, here I am writing my first entry. And what better way to start than to introduce myself. So, my name is Caroline Rose, oh yeah, you probably already know that. I’ve had many compliments on my name. At one of my summer jobs, the person who did payroll always made a point of coming to my desk to hand me my pay stub just so she could say my name, she liked it so much. Funny how you take your name for granted and don’t really think too much about it. Unless you hate it I guess.
Anyway. Back to my introduction. There are a couple of unique things about me, which you may find interesting:
1. I am a genealogist. I love researching family trees. Mine as well as for other people. I love the search and fitting the pieces together to build the tree. There are many ways that I do it – internet, libraries, cemeteries, talking to people and much more. It’s given me the opportunity to build on my organizational and research skills.
2. I volunteer at a streetcar/railway museum in Milton. Kind of fell into that one when I wasn’t really looking for it. However, it’s turned into a really great experience where I have learned a lot. I volunteer as Marketing Manager, I’m also the Editor and Producer of their newsletter, I was elected to the Board of Directors a couple of years ago and serve as Secretary. I also help out with restorations and pretty much any other task that interests me. I have gained many skills at the museum, such as public relations, advertising, writing, fundraising, event planning, design and much more.
I mention both of these things not only so you can get to know a little bit about me, but also because it is highly likely that they’ll creep into future blogs. It’s funny how little bits of different parts of your life influence other parts, such as my role as Account Representative.
